A collodion photograph is very much between a paper positive and a polaroid, giving a unique look, Invented in the 1850s by Frederick Scott Archer as an alternative to the paper neg and daguerreotype the wet plate process captured the era of the Victorians, 

The workshop will get you to grips with this fascinating photography.
Allowing you to take the wet plate process into the present. Starting with the use of a plate camera through to placing youre plates on the mantlepiece. Subjects covered Cameras for wet plate ( talk) preparing the glass plate (demo,practical) Chemistry required (fact sheet/talk) Pouring the collodion onto the glass (demo,practical) sensitizing the collodion (demo,practical ) Loading the camera (demo,practical) Getting to grips with exposure through modern and vintage lenses (demo,practical) Developing the plate (demo,practical) Sealing the plate for longevity (demo,practical) Digitalis the plate. This workshop is hands on practical day with studio based wetplates and model provided.
